Behind every great Leader is a great Coach

2016 has been a great year, and as we tell all our clients, 2017 will be even better. But before we enter 2017, here’s a question I want you to think about; What does the US President (that’s Barack, not the new guy), and the CEO’s Google, Apple and eBay all have in common? You’ll be surprised to hear that they each of them currently have an executive coach.
When you hear the word “coach” or “management coach”, what comes to mind? Now what should come to mind is that the coaching profession assists thousands of professionals gain major insight into the challenges and complexities of their careers. But that’s not all. As a coach, one of the greatest satisfactions I enjoy is witnessing someone coming into their own power and clarity as they develop as a better leader and communicator. That’s the real reason why I love what I do.
Make 2017 the year you have a coach
As the subheading above implies, make the new year the year where you employ a coach. What a coach will do for you is work hard on maximizing your leadership potential. Coaches give you the feedback that your boss and peers aren’t trained to recognize or articulate in the context of the big picture. Nor are they likely to feel comfortable in doing so. Coaches are neutral and will tell you what you may not want to hear, but as always, will deliver their feedback in a safe environment. We’re not here to belittle you, but we’re here to enable you to grow – as a professional and a person. One of the first lessons I teach my clients is to get them to see how they are perceived by others. I then follow that on to teach them why others respond to them the way that they do, or identify what’s holding them back from achieving what they want to achieve. After all, great leaders possess tremendous self-awareness and to have this, you need a coach.
